It’s been a little more than two years since we’ve seen an update to the Major Tom story. I kept holding out hope that the Fillbach Brothers had a little pocket of free time to devote to the story. Unfortunately, whenever they seem to get any free time, we tend to spend it all drinking beer and playing Call of Duty into the wee hours of tomorrow. When they don’t have free time, which is almost always, they’ve been working hard on the reboot of First Comics. There’s a few books already in the can for First, and I’m told that new issues of Captain Freebird are imminent.

When your partners are doing paying pro jobs, it’s easy to understand why they don’t have time for the low to non-existent wages of webcartooning. So, consider this an intermission on Major Tom. I’m hoping we’ll get back to him at some point, but it’s time to move on to other stories.

It’s been 25 months though, and in that time, I’ve let things slip, and gotten into bad habits. So, it’s going to take a few weeks to get things rolling again.

The good news is that I’ve found a cracker jack young artist, Seth Kumpf, who’s already knee deep into another story. I’ve seen character sketches and panel roughs, and I’m really excited. Next week I’ll post some of what I’ve seen. Just to wet yer whistle. So far the collaboration has gone really well, and Seth is killing me with the quality of what he’s delivered. With any luck, he’ll feel like sticking around long enough to produce some more work before he is inevitably whisked away to greatness.
